Echo Wave
Energy Community for Hydrogen On-site Production from Wind and AgriVoltaics for Industry DEcarbonisation
ECHO-WAVE is Luxembourg’s groundbreaking pilot project for green hydrogen production, directly linking renewable energy sources with industrial hydrogen use.
This first-of-its-kind initiative aligns with national and EU climate goals to decarbonize energy-intensive industries and mobility by replacing fossil hydrogen with clean, locally produced green hydrogen.
Due to its highly innovative and pioneering approach, the project has been awarded co-funding by the European Innovation Fund and the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy
ECHO-WAVE establishes a complete hydrogen value chain in Luxembourg, integrating wind, agrivoltaics, PEM electrolysis, storage, and industrial utilization. An AI-driven Predictive Control Unit optimizes hybrid system performance while creating energy community business models for renewable sharing.
Key impacts:
- Avoids 23,535 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent over project lifetime.
- Pioneers replicable hydrogen models across Greater Region/Europe.
- Drives innovation through AI-optimized smart energy management.
- Enables new business models via energy communities.
R2M Role
