Scaling Super-Heero: two new pilot projects strengthen the role of local communities in the energy transition

With the launch of two new pilot projects in Italy, Scaling Super-Heero takes another step forward in its development journey. Two different initiatives, in terms of context and typology—a restaurant and a co-working space—selected to address the same need: bringing the energy transition into the day-to-day operational decisions of service-sector businesses.

Scaling Super-Heero is a European project built on a bottom-up model, rooted in local territories and based on the direct involvement of communities. Its goal is simple: to integrate technology, financial tools, and participation through real-life projects, where citizens and stakeholders can become active investors.

Since the project’s inception, R2M Solution has coordinated its activities, supporting the development of the model, the work of the European partnership, and the valorisation of results, with the aim of making them replicable across different contexts.

Two different cases, one shared model

Following an initial testing phase—which led to the installation of a photovoltaic system with battery storage and electric vehicle charging stations at Azienda Agricola F.lli Palestra in Belgioioso (province of Pavia), as well as three projects developed with NaturaSì—Scaling Super-Heero now launches two new initiatives.

With these interventions, the project reaches its fifth and sixth pilot cases and will continue throughout 2026 with further applications.

Il Giardinetto in Belgioioso

The first new pilot project takes shape at Il Giardinetto, a restaurant in Belgioioso, in the province of Pavia, where a 30.5 kWp photovoltaic system will be installed on the building’s roof.

The intervention responds to a challenge shared by many service-sector businesses: reducing exposure to energy price volatility and achieving greater cost stability over time. The system will be roof-mounted and sized according to the building’s characteristics, with a solution designed to integrate seamlessly without disrupting the restaurant’s daily operations.

A key feature of the project is its participatory financing model. In the initial phase, the campaign is open exclusively to the local community, with particular attention to the restaurant’s customers.
From February 2026, the initiative will be gradually extended at regional and then national level.

In all cases, a higher return rate is предусмотрed, designed to further strengthen—also from an economic perspective—the link between the business and its local territory.

Padua: energy efficiency as an operational lever

The second pilot project is being developed in Padua, at the premises of Paradigma, a co-working space hosting a diverse range of activities and professionals. Here, the intervention involves the installation of a 29.04 kWp photovoltaic system, developed in collaboration with Expofin S.r.l., a project partner.

The objective is clear: to increase self-consumption and stabilise energy expenditure. The project is based on an analysis of the building’s energy consumption and is designed to deliver measurable benefits, both economically and environmentally.

Once again, the added value lies in the participatory model that characterises the Super-Heero approach. The crowdfunding campaign, initially launched with the involvement of the co-working community, is already open to residents of the province of Padua, expanding the group of people directly engaged in the project.

From a European project to replicability

These two new pilot projects demonstrate how the energy transition can be integrated into the operational decisions of businesses in a gradual and concrete way, without increasing management complexity.

Scaling Super-Heero continues to build and refine a field-tested model designed for application in different contexts, thanks to the contribution of a European partnership bringing together expertise in energy, finance, and community engagement. The partnership includes R2M Solution, Ener2Crowd, Expofin, Cleanwatts, Finergy, Fondazione Fenice, Greentime Hub, Icopower, ICU, Sogesca, and Life Terra.

Looking ahead, upcoming pilot projects represent new opportunities for experimentation and engagement, with the goal of making the model increasingly robust and replicable.
